THE DIGEST
🎗️ Welcome home: Mustang's Guard soldiers are back
The Gist: They're home. Mustang's Oklahoma National Guard military police soldiers returned this week after a nine-month deployment to the Middle East, welcomed back by the kind of armory homecoming that makes the whole town stop: kids on shoulders, hand-painted signs, and hugs that were nine months in the making.
Why It Matters: Somebody on your street just got their mom, dad, husband or wife back. If you know a family that spent this year holding things together, this is the week to drop off dinner and say welcome home. Thank you for your service, soldiers. Mustang missed you.
🏈 Friday night lights are back across the corridor
The Gist: Football season opens tonight for all four of our teams: the Yukon Millers, the Mustang Broncos, the Piedmont Wildcats and the Southwest Covenant Patriots. The Broncos take the field with one of the most-watched players in the state, and Yukon's roster carries some serious college attention too.
Why It Matters: For the next ten Fridays, you know where half the county will be. New to town and haven't picked a sideline yet? Just show up. High school football is the fastest way to feel like you live here. Check your school's athletics page for tonight's kickoff time, and send us your scores and photos. We'll run the roundup.
🏗️ The data center plan, plainly
The Gist: The proposed data center went before the Piedmont City Council this week, and the council delayed its decision. Residents and developers both spoke to a packed room, and instead of voting on the zoning the council held the question over for more review. A neighboring city has also come out against the proposal. No approval has been granted, and the project still has public steps ahead.
Why It Matters: This is the biggest land-use question Piedmont has faced in years, and the delay means residents get another round to weigh in. We'll tell you when the next hearing is set, what's actually being decided at each step, and how the council votes when it votes. No spin from us, in either direction. Just the process, every week, until it's settled.
NEW & NOTEWORTHY
The mystery on Mustang Road
Here's a fun one. Something called Trinity Endurance is opening at 501 S Mustang Road, Suite F, in Yukon, with a Chamber ribbon cutting Friday, Sept. 4 at 9:30 a.m. And that's genuinely all we know. No website, no sign we could find, nothing. So consider this a challenge: somebody go to that ribbon cutting, find out what Trinity Endurance is, and hit reply. Best answer gets quoted in next week's issue.

🌾 TRIVIA ANSWER
B) Czech Capital of Oklahoma! It's painted in script right on the Yukon's Best Flour mill, and it's why 50,000 people show up downtown every October for the Czech Festival. The 60th one is Oct. 2–3. Kolaches will be involved.
